Having never used a product like this before I am not able to compare it to the other programs (if any) that have the same function. This program is aimed mainly at DJs who also do karaoke and would like to create and edit their own karaoke tracks. These vocal reduced tracks can be then used in MTU’s Karaoke Home Producer software to create karaoke tracks in sync with the words on screen. The program’s system requirements are fairly minimal for today’s computer user, with the program requiring:
Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, The installation was relatively simple and swift, as I was up and running within 10 minutes. On opening the program you are greeted with a screen that looks something like this:
You are then asked to choose the file that you would like to reduce the vocals from. The program at present only supports .wav files so, if like me, you are a Pc based Mobile DJ then you are going to have to convert your trusty mp3s to wavs. If you only have a few tracks to do then it wouldn’t be a problem but if you had 100+ tracks then I could see this as being a bit tedious. Having opened my track into the program I was then ready to start reducing the vocals on the track. The program is relatively simple and easy to use with 3 adjustable sliders one for the low range frequencies, one for the high range frequencies and one for the total amount of vocals reduced. I then clicked play Vogone and the difference between the original and the Vogone produced track was stunning; the vocals were defiantly much quieter and more suitable for use in karaoke. After finding a balance that I thought sounded good, without destroying the clarity of the song, I clicked export and a few minutes later there was the finished track. Overall the program is very easy to use and I can go as far to say that even a computer novice could use it without problems and could get good results.
