Awards, DJ appearances and an influx of creative new products signalled the buzz was around Vestax at the PLASA show, London, this week. The Vestax Controller One (turntable meets musical instrument) received the DJ Tech Award for Innovation at the ceremony, held at the Ministry of Sound during PLASA, one of 6 nominations for Vestax. With awe already surrounding the product DJ Tigerstyle demonstrated the possibilities for the creative DJ on this incredible bit of kit at an exclusive showcase for dealers and selected press at the show. DJ Muzzell also stepped up to impressively demo the new Vestax PDX-3000 turntable, his unit of choice, which is now available in ‘Mix' form with ‘S' tone arm. Muzzell labelled the 3000: "A truly awesome deck for cutting edge turntablists, club mixers and producers." "Unbelievably, you can now adjust the pitch in semitones using the new ‘Midi in' function," he enthused. "You can connect the 3000 to sequencing software and/or a normal midi keyboard to create completely new scratch melodies never before possible." Vestax showcased an influx of additional new products at PLASA 2007, including the PMC-580 Pro 4 channel multi-effects DJ mixer (expected in the UK October), the VCM-100 PC DJ Controller, and the VDA-1000 Portable Digital Amplifier. The new MDM-410 19 inch 4 channel mixer also caused quite a stir, with an expected very favourable price point. Amongst new products already established units have seen a revamp, with added features and new colour schemes for products including the VMC004XLU (now supplied in black with onboard USB) and the portable battery powered Vestax Handy Trax turntable - available in Limited Edition black. Also burning up some vinyl was the Vestax ‘Sound Wagon.' Billed as ‘the world's smallest record player' the mini camper van zooms around your vinyl and plays out through an in-built speaker!
