db_stand Sam Phillips, the man who discovered Elvis Presley once famously said, "I can get by with less equipment than anybody else 'cos I can make it do more, it's perfect imperfection". Now who are d&b to overlook a dictum filled with such promise?

Take the latest d&b ROPE C remote control software for PC platforms, connect them via the new d&b R60 USB to CAN interface to your d&b D12 and E-PAC amplifiers and besides a mouthful of words and numbers you've got an expanded remote network. Where's the famous d&b maxim 'less is more' in that, you may ask? Open laptop, sit back on couch and 'make it do more'. The d&b R60 USB to CAN interface is the bespoke link for the d&b Remote network.

Designed to elegantly connect d&b's amplifiers to a PC, it comes with drivers for Windows® operating systems. The ROPE C Version 2.0.8 can accommodate up to five R60 interfaces with a maximum of five hundred and three amplifiers (well, you never know) in one system design.

"Get by with less than anybody else?" Hmm, you might think it ironic but this latest software version of ROPE C also offers the ability to control and monitor d&b loudspeaker systems in much greater detail at the amplifier level, via its graphical drag and drop interface. Grouping d&b's amplifier functions is the key to reduce system complexity; now Sam Phillips would have understood that phrase; 'reduce system complexity'. Where necessary the full detailed control of a d&b loudspeaker system is possible from only one surface, be it for live or installed applications.

On the receiving end of the Remote, and representing the darker side of the system reality, were d&b's J-Series range of loudspeakers launched only last year, along with the reference monitor the M2 and its smaller sibling the M4. To complete this designed monochrome snapshot of the range were the Qi-Series installation loudspeakers, strangely black this year, compared to their previous outings in vibrant orange and green.

"There is a strong feeling of Déjà Vu at prolight+sound this year," quipped Simon Johnston, d&b's Marketing Director. "This time last year we reported one of the first J-Series systems we shipped was actually in the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust performances and exactly the same thing is happening this year, so the excitement continues. Right from the outset, the J-Series gained critical acclaim worldwide, which embellished the successful backdrop that our other established products have gained. I recall last year making a statement about our pride in the achievements of our global distribution.  Well since then they have surpassed themselves by producing an increase in business that reflects a growth of fifty percent, which is something we are very proud of and also very grateful for. This really is very exhilarating."

So now you've seen inside the black box from which no light escapes, and curiously you've been illuminated. Come again, there will be more.
