As a leading international trade fair, Prolight + Sound brings together the fields of event and communication technology, audio-visual production and entertainment in Frankfurt, Germany from Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st March 2007.

This year ChamSys and their German Distributors, Focon Showtechnic will be showcasing industry favourites such as the MagicQ PC Wing range and MagicQ Consoles in Hall 9, Stand A40.

ChamSys will also be launching several new products, all of which are eagerly anticipated by distributors and clients who, earlier this year, were given a brief hint of the new products being launched. Just the mere mention of new products to the range, has resulted in a huge amount of interest and enquiries, proving ChamSys’ growing reputation within the lighting control market.

MagicQ Media Wing

The MagicQ Media Wing is the ultimate in control of media servers and moving yoke projectors. Connected to a MagicQ console or MagicQ PC, the MagicQ Media Wing enables advanced mixing of media sources for generation of spectacular events. The MagicQ Media Wing builds on the well-established flexibility and live control features of the MagicQ consoles, to enable the operator to match the mood of the live environment with lighting and video.

The ergonomic chrome split T-bar enables fingertip mixing of four different sources, which can combine multiple media layers. All the buttons, faders and encoders are electronically legended for ease of use when changing pages or shows.

MagicQ Media Wing has four separate programmers for complete live mixing. In each programmer you can create visual effects from a combination of layers, images, movies and effects. Seamlessly mix between the different programmers using the T-bar fader or the four motorised faders.

MagicQ Media Wing is fully compatible with MagicQ software - the Media Wing can be utilised to control industry standard media servers (e.g. Arkaos, Catalyst, Hippotizer, Pandora’s Box, PixelDrive). MagicQ software supports immediate media selection through thumbnails (retrieved from each media server independently) on the MagicQ touch screen.

In addition, live previews of the layers and final outputs can be shown on MagicQ screens as you mix the media live using the MagicQ Media Wing, giving immediate feedback on your live changes.

The MagicQ Media Wing is available as a stand-alone unit, directly attached to a console, or as part of a dual MagicQ Playback Wing. Stand alone MagicQ Media Wings connect to consoles / MagicQ PC system via USB. The lower half of the Media Wing mimics the lower half of a standard MagicQ Playback Wing whilst the upper half provides the media specific functions.

MagicQ PC Playback Wing

The PC Playback Wing is designed to allow users of MagicQ PC Wings to extend the number of playbacks available. The PC Playback Wing is similar in size to the current PC Wing and fits inside the standard PC Wing bag.

It has a total of 24 playbacks – split into two sections, one section with 12 faders and one section with 12 Execute buttons. Each section has separate PGUP/PGDN buttons.

The 12 playbacks with faders are very similar to the lower part of the original MagicQ Playback Wing, with FLASH, GO and SELECT buttons together with a LCD display for legending. The 12 playbacks with Execute buttons consist of 12 Select and Execute buttons, and a LCD display for legending.

The PC Playback Wing can be used on its own or together with a MagicQ Mini, PC, or Maxi Wing. It has an internal USB hub so that when used with a PC Wing it only requires one USB socket on the PC. The MagicQ PC Playback Wing can also be used with MagicQ Consoles.

MagicQ Audio Interface

The MagicQ Audio Interface is an interface module for connection MagicQ consoles and MagicQ PC systems to audio systems to enable automated triggering of lighting, LED and video effects. The MagicQ Audio Interface incorporates dual 5 band audio processing hardware which can analyse the received audio input and relay it to the MagicQ software to enable playbacks to be triggered. This enables sound activated lighting FX and lighting shows to be realised.

The MagicQ Audio Interface is packaged in the standard MagicQ interface box with a USB input for connection to the MagicQ console or MagicQ PC system. The module has two sets of dual phono connectors -left and right high-level inputs, and left and right low-level inputs. The user can choose which inputs to use dependent on the audio levels available. Two sets of audio level LED indicators help to provide user feedback on the received signals.

As with all other MagicQ USB interfaces, when this interface is connected to a MagicQ PC system, the restricted features of MagicQ are enabled -e.g. audio support, remote connections, Execute Window.

ChamSys are also meeting with distributors at the expo to ensure that integration of the new products to the MagicQ range is as smooth as always. Thus allowing distributors the unique chance of gaining hands-on experience with the new products prior to ordering. So why not come along to the stand and witness the launch of these exciting products along with the firm favourites that are taking the industry by storm.
