Avolites introduces several exciting new products at PLASA 05

New: ART-DC dimmer.

This is a fully environmentally friendly, portable, stand-alone, wireless or DMX battery powered dimming system specifically developed for low voltage lamps.

Originated for the fabulous “The Storr – “Unfolding Landscape” arts project in Scotland, the Avolites ART-DC dimmer is now part of the diverse Avolites ART dimming range.

The ART-DC runs off industrial or car batteries and dims lights up to 20 Amps. It’s currently available in 4 channel/32A modules, and it can be either a dimming or a relay/switching module. It’s ideal for dimming car headlights and other HMI/HID automotive lightsources.

A ‘Battery Save’ function kicks in to conserve energy if there’s no control signal, and there’s local control and a useful and easily readable LCD front panel display for status and diagnostics – including battery voltage measurement.

There’s opto-isolated DMX in and out.

The ART-DC is designed to be used outdoors. It’s small and portable, measuring just 275 x 290 mm by 110 mm high – just over A4 size – and weighs 3.2 Kg.

New: mDMX – Mains DMX

This is a unique and highly reliable wired and wireless method for sending DMX over mains cabling using Ethernet. This uses multiple multiplexing technology to module multiple DMX universes down a standard mains cable. The attraction of running just one cable is obvious and it’s designed for situations where data cable management is a problem e.g. moving trusses and scenery, FOH data runs. It currently has a maximum capacity of 4 DMX universes running concurrently over a distance of 400 metres. mDMX is fully compatible with the versatile and popular Avolites eDMX wireless system.

New: eDMX WENDI

Avolites' implementation of the dAFTdATA WENDI wireless data protocol is a new sister product to eDMX that works on the 5.8GHz range. Specifically designed for long range work and point to point, clear line of sight solutions where the 2.4GHz spectrum is busy. Avolites’ eDMX now offers this completely new frequency range, giving users vastly increased flexibility over the design of their wireless systems.

New: Diamond 4 “Active Personality” system, an innovation that creates a seamless link to Media Servers and Ethernet enabled fixtures. “Active Personality” enables media clips to be viewed as graphic thumbnails from the Diamond 4 console.

New: The latest software for Pearl 2004, including Shapes in Chases, Playback and Palette Legends, Quick Palettes, Filter Palettes and Palette Pages.

eDMX

The Avolites eDMX system transfers DMX data across a Wi-Fi radio link - completely removing the need for DMX data cables

eDMX units are easily addressed and user configured, either as transmitters or receivers, allowing the fast set up of “Point-to-Point”, “Point-to-Multipoint” or “Multipoint to Multipoint” DMX Data Transmission Systems.

Each transmit/receive pair of eDMX units relays data for one DMX universe at full speed, with ranges of up to 1 Km.

eDMX is totally user definable - one per light, one per pipe or truss, or just one to overcome the front of house data leap. A huge advantage to rental and production companies is that any Avolites eDMX unit may be instantly set as a transmitter or a receiver. This dual functionality in each unit is an obvious cost saver.

Diamond 4 Vision

The Diamond 4 Series is Avolites new generation of top-level lighting control consoles – seen in action for a plethora of high profile tours, festivals, events and in venues worldwide.

The D4 Vision’s stylish and aesthetically pleasing profile reveals a lighting console that’s intuitive to operate, offers minimum operator fatigue, and helps create the fastest, most cost-efficient, stunning shows.

This Diamond 4 Vision is designed for large-scale shows, festivals, concerts, events and multi-purpose venues.

It addresses the need for fast, accurate and immediate control of numerous intelligent lights, conventional fixtures and other DMX devices.

New Features include Fixture Mapping – the ‘translation’ of parameters between different manufacturers’ fixtures – especially useful for touring festival situations when you might be using Martin moving lights one day, Robe the next and High End the next, etc., The console does all the recalculating work when faced with a new set of moving lights, saving stressful hours of re-patching.

Also new is the storing of Times within a Palette, expanding the ability to use Palettes during live performance, and ensuring a highly flexible toolkit for programming. The inbuilt Looks and Palettes, and the D4 Vision’s easy use, enables complete improvisational freedom for those circumstances where pre-programming has not been possible.

A high speed processing engine ensures instant and seamless response times for selecting and running anything.

The console is fully Ethernet and Artnet compatible.

Diamond 4 Elite

The D4 Elite console is streamlined to offer the maximum power and functionality in the minimum physical space, recognising the ever-growing need in all applications to use FOH and control spaces expediently. It’s ideal for all areas of professional lighting.

The D4 Elite is fully featured and cased in a smaller, lighter chassis, complete with 14 submasters and 96 assigned playbacks, with direct access to 96 fixtures or cues via the re-assignable Preset Playbacks.

In the D4 range, Avolites wanted to offer a physically smaller console that retained the flexibility and versatility for which Avo products are renowned.

Electronic legending increases set up speed and allows the automatic configuration of a huge programming Palette. Increased software capabilities and dual VGA monitors make the console even more versatile, logical and fast to programme.

Naturally, the D4 range also retains the hands-on intuitive feel that’s made Avolites’ desks the most popular ‘live’ operation consoles worldwide.

ART dimmers

Avolites will show a full selection of its ART dimming range – a dimmer for every situation including the ART2000 Installation, ART2000 Touring and ART2000 Modular “S” systems, now complemented by the all-new ART DC dimmer (see above).
