Alcons Audio can look back on the most successful PL&S show in her existence, while celebrating her fifth anniversary. Main eye catcher on the stand was the “R-Ray” design study; Becoming an annual “stand feature”, Alcons shares a glimpse of R&D projects, by displaying assembled prototype products of which part developments may be applied in future products. R-Ray showed the study on achieving maximum projection control through a modular point-source cluster, utilizing (pro-ribbon) line-source technology. The viewing of the LR7, latest and smallest member of Alcons’ successful pro-ribbon line-arrays, also attracted a lot of attention. Typed as “micro pro-ribbon line-array”, the system features a single 6.5” woofer, next to a 4” pro-ribbon driver, in a 15-degree vertical projection configuration. A choice of (Real!) 90-degree or 120-degree horizontal projection, makes the LR7 ideal for A/V projects, where very compact form factor with perfect line-array throw and imaging are required. Other developments displayed on the stand were: the QR6 line-source column under-fill extension; the updated BF302 subwoofer; the V1.5 firmware version of Alcons proprietary Digital Drive Processor; a.o. Tom Back: “our fifth anniversary was the best show so far: Looking at the amount of stand visitors, the number of new contacts, the “buzz” that’s going through the market; We could also measure the Alcons’ success by looking at the number of copies we saw.. The annual Pro-Ribbon Partner dinner on Thursday night really showed the bond between Alcons “ambassadors” (rental-users, dealers, distributors) from countries from all over the globe; It’s this team spirit that is key to our motivation to continue improving our performance in any possible way”.
