"Ear-catching" feature of all products is Alcons' proprietary pro-ribbon technology. A radically different, but proven way of reproducing mid and high frequencies, resulting in HiFi sound quality with truly unsurpassed clarity and (speech)intelligibility at full theatre sound pressure levels. The Alcons technology is being used in plays like Beauty and the Beast, Rembrandt, Guys and Dolls, Dirty Dancing, The Rocky Horror show, to name a few. Alcons will show her product range, covering the three philosophies for theatre sound: For point source system, the traditional way of reinforcing theatre sound, Alcons will have the VR8 and VR2 on display, both 2-way passive systems, each with its own pro-ribbon driver. Then, rapidly making inroads in the theatre market, the LR14 line-array system will be on the stand. The system can be used in stacked and flown applications, and can even be used on a tri-pod stand, while maintaining full- line-array functionality! The third theatre sound philosophy Alcons can offer is the ribbon column array systems: This modular array concept consists of speaker modules of 1metre length, that can be mounted on top of each other, forming long arrays of an (almost) uninterrupted projecting ribbon. "Ultimate controlled projection" is the key-word here. Also, the first product of the completely new "S-series", the SR9 wil be on show. The SR9 is an ultra-compact ribbon loudspeaker, specifically designed for applications where ultimate fidelity response needs to be projected with wide horizontal and precise vertical coverage, such as low-profile stage-lip/front-fill, upper-/under-balcony or stair risers or walls. Making its first appearance on the ABTT show, it the Digital Drive Processor, DDPTM. The DDPTM marks the entrance of Alcons in the digital processing domain, to even further improve the control of the speaker systems. The exchangeable processing device is complementary to the Alcons ALC controller-amplifiers and caters for improved ease-of-use in the handling and controlling of Alcons sound systems. A very important step forward in Alcons' "system synergy" philosophy.
