After working with Cirque du Soleil on productions like KA and Delirium TOMCAT USA is pleased to announce its continuing working relationship with the world famous theatrical company on their holiday production: Wintuk. The family-friendly Wintuk is "the enchanting winter tale of one boy's quest to find snow and adventure" that ran November 1, 2007 through January 6, 2008 at the WAMU Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City. For its part in the project TOMCAT provided 4 groups of equipment. The first group - which came to be called the "Austrian truss package" - was a 12" light duty truss arch. Stage Technologies installed a series of winches and pulleys on this truss span so an Austrian curtain could be installed and controlled. The next part of the project was a set of two winch frames. These small rectangular frames were fitted with Stage Technologies winches to fly performers during the show. The third component of the project became knows as the "Ice Man Track truss." This package consists of two straight spans of I-Beam truss which was designed with an aluminum cable carrier tray welded to the inside of the truss to support the cable needed for the winch that travels along the truss span. The forth and final component of the project was better known as the "Bird Track trusses." These two curved spans of truss were designed with two radii to give them required shape. This proved challenging from a fabrication standpoint when trying to match-up the two different rolled radii inside the truss span. Like the Ice Man Track trusses, these trusses were also fabricated with aluminum cable trays on the inside face for cable management. Wintuk was a hit with New York audiences this past holiday season. The show will run for 10 weeks each winter for the next four years and TOMCAT USA is very proud to be a part of the show.
