Raffles Junior College Gains ExpertiseAn Avolites Pearl Expert console has been supplied to the new 1100 capacity Performing Arts Centre at Raffles Junior College in Singapore.

The desk was specified by Marc Brandon of Installation company AVL Acoustic Systems in consultation with the College's in-house AV team. AVL is responsible for supplying equipment for an ongoing staged lighting and audio upgrade for the arts centre, and the Pearl Expert was supplied to them by Avolites' Singaporean distributor Total Solutions.

The Arts Centre is utilized to stage numerous and varied events and shows, accommodating both in-house and visiting productions. The College has its own events team, and some months, up to 15 shows will take place in the auditorium.

There are approximately 2200 students at the college, and those involved in the Arts Centre are particularly hands on, so Brandon wanted an all-round lighting control solution that would involve plenty of flexibility and have enough capacity to run reasonably complex shows.

"I wanted a new desk that was very user friendly and could easily deal with both moving lights and generics, offering lots of functions," he explains, adding that he thought the double rollers would be great for the students as they learnt to integrate the control of moving and generic lighting on the console.

Brandon has specified Avolites Pearls in the past and has been using Avo products for some years now, "It's one of the best, most widely-known and respected brands in the industry," he maintains.

All the Arts Centre's production lighting will be controlled via the Pearl.
