Arguably the most popular night venues in the country - there are 20 across Denmark - Martin Professional gear is standard in all Crazy Daisys, part of the NOX Network's chain of 55 nightclubs countrywide. Martin lighting gear is supplied to Crazy Daisy directly by Martin Scandinavia with lighting design by Martin Scandinavia's Frank Ovesen.
The power of dynamic light Each Crazy Daisy club functions as an independent discotheque, each venue distinct and customized to fit the personality of the city it calls home. This is particularly important in provincial towns like Viborg and Skive says Henrik Karlsen, owner of Crazy Daisy Viborg. Even in a smaller town, VIP areas, lounges, old fashioned bars and multiple dance floors are important to cater to as broad a mix as possible. And what better way to customize your venue than through the use of dynamic lighting? Henrik, who has his hand in design and installation at both clubs as well, has been a Martin user for years. And although most club owners rely on a designer or installer to guide the lighting choice, Henrik is the primary creative force behind his lighting. Fully aware of the benefits of using lighting differently in different areas of a club, including on the outdoor facade, he strives to be at the forefront of entertainment technology and believes strongly in dynamic lighting's ability to attract, control ambiance and affect customers' moods. Crazy Daisy Viborg Crazy Daisy in Viborg is a large club that welcomes 2000 guests each weekend, often for special events like costume or themed parties. Multiple bars and dance floors are spread across two levels of varying environments (McQuire, Beach, and Nightlife). The main dance area, Nightlife, was renovated in January 2008 with a large chandelier, plush sofas, and new Martin lighting. smartMAC The Nightlife upgrade includes smartMAC moving heads mounted in each corner of the dance floor with a further four smartMACs arranged as a high energy centerpiece. Along with a desire to minimize maintenance and avoid service calls, Henrik chose the smartMAC for its power and compact size. The stylish and easy to handle fixture fits comfortably and discreetly into the club's interior. The smartMAC is a bright 150 W moving head profile luminaire that offers club owners a number of benefits: superior reliability, long service intervals, total silence and reduced power bills thanks to a unique fanless cooling system that avoids forcing dust and pollutants into the fixture. As clubs become more quality focused and expectations rise, club owners like Henrik are putting special emphasis on reliable gear like the smartMAC. Jem Hydra Also part of the dance floor upgrade are new Mania EFX600 effect lights, which along with the smartMACs and other Martin lighting, are brought to life by a Jem Hydra fog system. The Hydra, a multi-headed fog generator, provides several effect points around the main dance floor through multiple DMX-controlled output heads - in this instance six - all serviced by a centralized base. The individually controlled fog heads are located remotely from the base unit and fire a range of outputs - gentle haze, dense fog, fog chases - exactly where needed. The easy access base unit makes for easy refilling and the base also monitors each head for safety issues. The smartMACs, Manias and Hydra system were all installed in February and join existing Martin gear on the main dance floor: 8 MAC 250 Kryptons, 4 MAC 250 Washes, 5 Mania EFX600 effect lights, 6 MX-10 scanners, and a Jem ZR33 Hi-Mass smoke machine. More than just the dance floor... Because club owners increasingly realize the importance of enhancing other areas of a club - areas equally as important to a clubber's experience as the dance floor - seating, bar and other social spaces of Crazy Daisy Viborg have been given special treatment. Mounted in the ceiling above a spacious seating area are recessed Alien 05 color changers used for decorative washes and mood setting with additional color treatment from more recessed Alien 05s above the main bar. Setting the mood by washing motived walls in varying colors around more seating are Cyclo Series T5 fluorescent luminaires. Mounted in a ceiling cove, the Cyclos provide a simple dynamic lighting solution with smooth color transitions and a nearly endless variety of colors. Outside, announcing the club at night in a lively wash of color, are four IP65 rated Exterior 200 CMY color changers whose asymmetrical flood beam paints the building's columned façade in uniform shades. Crazy Daisy Skive Crazy Daisy Skive is a smaller club yet offers a little something for everyone with its two dance floors and multiple bars in different themes. Although located on a busy street, the building was rather inconspicuous after sundown. A color changing lighting scheme was thus proposed for the building's façade, designed to attract attention and bring out its vintage architecture at night. Exterior 200 LED Mounted nearly flush with the building's front, illuminating the façade in saturated shades, are seven Exterior 200 LED fixtures with wide angle lenses. The Exterior 200 LEDs were installed in February as one of the first Exterior 200 LED installations anywhere. The Exterior 200 LED is a long-life programmable luminaire with full RGB + Amber and White color mixing. Fully weatherproofed, it is ideal for applications like the Crazy Daisy façade in Skive where projection distance is limited. Inside, working the upstairs main dance area are four smartMACs, one in each corner of the dance floor. They work with four MiniMAC Washes to provide color and effects onto a series of ceiling scrims. In the center of the dance floor are three Mania EFX600s as a full effect centerpiece while four Mania SCX600 scanners add a multitude of brilliant effects. Like the Viborg club, Cyclo Series fluorescent luminaires wash surrounding walls at seating areas in mood enhancing color. Lighting control at both venues is from a Martin PC-based LightJockey with touch screen. Both the Viborg and Skive clubs are all Martin lighting installs. Crazy Daisy Viborg Crazy Daisy Skive
