They recently played at the Clarendon Centre in Brighton on 9th November and Tamplins Stage Lighting Design & Rental (TSL) supplied and designed the stage lighting for them. TSL have been providing stage lighting for Brighton band Phatfish since their ‘Treasure' tour in September 2006. Phatfish had pre recorded video and backing tracks which had specific lighting queues. TSL's lighting brief was to accompany the band and video elements of the show with high energy lighting and dramatic sensitive lighting for quieter numbers that would complement the set. TSL supplied MAC 700 Profiles, MAC 600's and MAC 250 Entours amongst other equipment to achieve this. Sam Tamplin of TSL explains, "The MAC 600's were used to wash the white trevira back drop with light and to create dramatic scenes when focused on to the audience. The MAC 700's were placed around the truss set with two hung over the audience in order to wash the stage and audience with a gobo break and create dynamic movement." Sam then explained why they chose those particular lights, "The MAC 700 Profiles and MAC 600's were a great combination enabling total control of the stage appearance especially with CMY on both models working fantastically together, helping to achieve slow colour changes that reflected the mood of the songs. The optics on the MAC 700s are second to none and really cut through even at maximum zoom with a prism, which really draws in the audience and makes them feel part of the show. The MAC 700's animation wheel helped create really intimate moments when focused on to the backdrop with the ‘fire' gobo flickering." The show was controlled with TSL's Jands Vista T2 lighting desk. Sam O'Riordan, one of TSL's lighting designers said, "The client was really happy with the way the show looked and commented on how smoothly it was all installed. We had a few meetings with the band beforehand and talked about what they wanted to achieve. It's nice to have that input and to build on their ideas." TSL is owned and operated by David & Sam Tamplin. Sam Tamplin has been working in lighting for just 4 years but already built a reputation for providing high quality lighting design and hire services to the live event industry. Sam O'Riordan has been working in lighting for 3 years and was originally from a sound background. He joined the team in March 2006 and is in charge of designing and operating TSL's live music projects. In total, TSL supplied:
