Britannia Row Productions used its Butterfly Outlinearray for sound reinforcement at the show staged on the occasion of the naming ceremony of the Queen Victoria, the cruise liner built by Italy's Fincantieri shipyard for Cunard Line (Carnival Group), the legendary British company with almost 170 years' of history and a glorious tradition of transatlantic service.

As far as the presence of Italian manufacturers was concerned, as well as Fincantieri - a world leader in its sector - Southampton also hosted the Butterfly systems manufactured by Outline of Brescia. Precisely 24 CDH 483 Hi-Pack units which, supported by the customary Subtech 218 for the ultra-low frequencies, amplified the notes played by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the UK's most important orchestras and among the most prestigious worldwide. There were also three famous tenors: Alfie Boe, Jon Christof and Gardar Thor Cortes.

The show consisted in a presentation, during which famous actor Sir Derek Jacobi told the Cunard story, accompanied by pieces played by the orchestra, including "Rule Britannia".

Following the official naming, by the Duchess of Cornwall, the ship's godmother - accompanied by her husband the Prince of Wales - the impressive Queen Victoria left for her maiden cruise, stopping first at the ports of Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo, Hamburg and Bruges.

This latest masterpiece of Italian technology has some impressive figures: 294 metres long and with a gross tonnage of 90,000 tons, it is one of the largest panamax liners (i.e. able to pass through the Panama Canal) built so far.
