Bandit Joins Enrique Iglesias On South American Tour Bandit Lites is excited to be working with pop superstar, Enrique Iglesias. Based on his 2007 album of the same name, Iglesias’ Insomniac tour began in South Africa and Europe last year. Bandit joined the Enrique Iglesias tour in South America, where Iglesias recently played ten shows. The tour is scheduled to continue in Central America, Mexico, and the U.S. before heading back to Europe and the Middle East.

Lighting and show designer, Travis Shirley said that his lighting and set design was inspired by Enrique’s desire to transition away from stereotypical pop music to more of a rock feel. “Enrique's sound features loud guitar riffs and an amazingly high energy level, and he wanted to have a look that matched it," explained Shirley.

Due to smaller venue capacity and freight constraints in South America, Shirley was challenged to create a design and select equipment that allowed him to provide essentially the same show as previous legs of the tour but on a smaller scale.

Shirley chose to use Coemar Infinity Wash XLs, Color Kinetics Color Blasts and Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes to light this tour. He also incorporated a 120' Mainlight Industries Soft LED screen with trusses and Barco MiPIX to create an elaborate video display. Lighting was controlled by a Grand MA. The Coemar Infinities played a particularly important role in the current lighting design. Shirley believes the Infinity represents the next generation of lighting because of the beam attributes the lights have introduced. “The focus you can get out of [the Infinities] is amazing.”

Shirley spent a week at Bandit’s Nashville facility working with Bandit programmer, Trevor Ahlstrand before heading out on the current leg of the tour. “It was a huge help to have Trevor at Bandit programming for me,” Shirley commented. “We’ve worked together a lot so he gets me on multiple levels. He’s very talented and I look forward to working with him on future projects.”

Bandit crew on this tour includes crew chief, Micah Andrews and lighting technician, Aaron Swetland.
