With two distinct lead singers, Anders SG and Stena Bramsen, and drummer Troels Hansen and guitarist Anders Bonlokke providing backing vocals, clear vocals was an absolute priority for front of house engineer Micky Griffiths. "I approached Sennheiser's Phil Cummings and got the band the mics in time to do some big shows in Denmark earlier this year," explains Griffiths, who has been with the band since the beginning of February. "The e 945 is one of my favourite vocal mics. That's the reason I went for them. Because of the type of band Alphabeat are - a pop band with strong vocals - I want a consistent vocal sound every night I'm mixing. For me, it's a very natural sounding microphone. It doesn't take anything away from the singers' natural vocal sounds.
"The band loved the mics. We play some small venues on this tour and use different in house PA and monitoring systems. When you're in that situation having mics with that kind of clarity is very helpful. They've been winners for me and the band. I think they're brilliant." The band have picked up Griffith's enthusiasm for the e 945s and are already planning their next Sennheiser purchase. "We're getting a complete six-way in-ear monitoring system for the entire band from Sennheiser," continues Griffiths. "I've just had approval from the band's management so we should have them in time for the next tour."
