Radical Lighting and HSL are collaborating to stage a 2-day Open Event at HSL's Blackburn HQ on Tues 29^th and Weds 30^th May.

This is designed to showcase Radical's latest products and services, and offer an insight into the world of digital media and lighting technologies.

The event will be presented by leading lighting designer Dave Byars (Beautiful South, Futureheads, Young Knives and many more) - known for his innovative work and as a leading exponent in the art of  blending lighting and video sources into one visual theme. He has designed a special lighting rig for the occasion to illustrate the various topics and themes of the event.

He is joined by Radical Lighting's technical director, Simon Carter. Both will be on hand to answer questions, along with HSL staff and crew.

HSL has invested heavily in digital lighting and control, and their hire inventory includes 6 RADlite NG1 media servers.

Day 1 is titled, "The technical world of Media Servers", and topics covered will include an introduction to Media Servers, video and DMX outputs and setting up and maintaining the systems. There will also be a debate on the future of media servers, followed by a practical session demonstrating the equipment, wrapped up with a Q&A

Day 2 will address "The creative world of Media Servers". The agenda will include the control of lighting fixtures and video devices, the spectacular results that can be achieved, and the creative opportunities that can be explored, plus how to save time and effort using offline programmers. It will be followed by a practical session and Q&A.

The focus will obviously be on Radical Lighting's products. Byars has created a fabulous design to showcase the many features of Radical's new PixelDrive 2 pixel mapping software and their popular NG Pro media server.

The Open Days will be accessible to users and enthusiasts of all levels of experience with digital media and lighting and control technologies.

Radical Lighting's Emma Long says, "The modules for each day have been designed to be concise, and to capitalise on people's attention spans, whilst also having plenty of room for discussion and interaction".

The Open Days are completely free of charge, and people can attend for either one or both days.
