Wireless Solution Sweden AB is proud to announce the winners of the W-DMX Visionary Awards, held on Saturday, November 17 during LDI. The awards, given during a Swedish vodka-and-meatball party, congratulated two pioneers in W-DMX technology with a custom made GoldBox, along with other Swedish gifts. The W-DMX Visionary Award was created as a way to recognize individuals in the professional lighting industry who were early adopters of W-DMX and had an immediate vision about how it could be applied to great advantage in their respective production environments.

The first award was given to Joshua Thatcher with the Local 728 in Hollywood, who was the first to use W-DMX in a major feature film and continues to be the biggest such user in movies like Spiderman 3, Mission Impossible III, Transformers, and Iron Man. Josh is known for pushing networking and wireless technology into the lighting control of the films made by the major studios.

Valy Tremblay of Proluxon was also given a Visionary Award, for his use of W-DMX in Cirque du Soleil's Delirium and most recently for a Chantal Chamandy concert in Cairo with the Cairo Symphony orchestra, set to be aired on PBS. The Pyramids of Giza act as the concert backdrop, and are all lit using W-DMX. Of his experience with W-DMX during Delirium, Valy said, “W-DMX is my big discovery of the year! I just don’t want to use cable anymore! It was so easy to set up and we never had any trouble with them!”

“We’re very proud of the many ways in which W-DMX has been opening doors to new possibilities in lighting,” said Niclas Arvidsson, International Sales Manager for Wireless Solution, “but the product alone couldn’t do these things, which is why we wanted to recognize Josh and Valy for their outstanding use of the product.”

W-DMX is the perfect solution for applications where running DMX cable is not practical. W-DMX technology uses Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) and Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) to avoid interference. Critics worldwide have hailed the system as the number one product for interference-free wireless DMX technology.

W-DMX by Wireless Solution Sweden AB is the only system on the market for Wireless DMX that is dual award winning, at both PLASA 2004 and again at LDI 2005 in Orlando. Most recently, W-DMX “outshone the rest” in an independent Wireless Shootout held by Lighting & Sound International magazine. It has been used in high profile projects all over the world, including the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, 2006 Nobel Prize Banquet, the World Cup Opening Ceremonies and Cirque du Soleil’s Delirium show.
