Meyer Sound has announced the appointment of Jim Sides to the position of Managing Director of the company's office in Polch, Germany. Sides comes to Germany to energize the office in response to an upsurge in interest exemplified by recent large purchases of MICA and other products by German rental companies. Previously sales manager for the Western U.S. region, Sides brings extensive experience working closely with the Berkeley, Calif.-based factory to the German operation. Other changes announced for the Polch office include the promotion of Sascha Khelifa to Operations Director and the addition of Frank Martin as Installation Sales Manager. In his new position, Sides will focus on developing resources at the German office and infusing it with more of the corporate culture of service, support, and accessibility embraced at the company's headquarters offices. He will guide the office in meeting with expanding interest in Meyer Sound products and work to further the current momentum and increase the company's presence in the German pro audio market. In addition to Khelifa, Martin, and the rest of the Polch office staff, Sides also will work closely with International Sales Director Scott Gledhill. "Meyer Sound flourishes through maintaining close relationships with its customers, wherever in the world they may be," says Helen Meyer, executive vice president of the company. "Jim is intimately familiar with our values and methods at the factory, and is well-equipped to bring the flavor of the home office to Germany and direct our efforts there." Sides is embracing the new challenge with enthusiasm. "I am excited by the opportunity to work with the talented and enthusiastic staff in Germany. At Meyer Sound, we build our markets by applying solid science to create outstanding products, then supporting them with first-rate customer service, technical support, education, and tools like MAPP Online ProTM. I look forward to working with this staff to bring all of those things to bear in Germany so that our customers have the best possible experience." Sides has already begun working from the German office and will relocate to Germany in the coming months. He got things off to a fast start by organizing the European debut of the new M'elodie ultracompact curvilinear array loudspeaker at several mid-May demos in Hannover and Wiesbaden hosted by him and Meyer Sound's German staff.
