This year sees ETC celebrating 30 years as one
of the world's most popular names in entertainment lighting equipment and 10
years of serving the UK and European markets. A record 250,000 ETC Source Four
luminaires were shipped in 2005 and the company expects to exceed that this
year, which also sees the highest number of product releases of any year in
ETC's history.
Seen at ABTT was a new model in ETC's SmartPack range of economical and compact dimming solutions. The Wall Mount version of SmartPack is now available with six 20A dimmers and is ideal for architectural applications that require high performance dimming at an affordable price. This convenient, low maintenance unit can be installed directly, without any other parts, anywhere you have a free space. SmartPack is usually controlled via DMX, while for architectural purposes there's ETC's SmartLink with the optional SmartLink Wall Mount Button Stations. Since its launch 18 months ago, ETC's Congo console has built up a tremendous following and is now being used by theatres, TV studios and conference halls alike, the world over. Congo combines the simplicity of classic control systems with the feature-rich functionality of a dedicated moving lights console, with direct select keys for short commands and fast results. Visitors to ABTT were treated to a preview of Congo jr, a smaller version of the desk, prior to its anticipated launch later this year. Congo jr packs the same channel and output counts, but in a standard 19" rack-style modular design console. Running the same operating software as the original, Congo jr will make an extremely flexible desk for smaller venues. ETC says it also sees the desk being used as a back-up unit for the larger console. Although not seen at ABTT, an optional Master Playback Wing will be available on Congo jr to gain access to all 40 multipurpose Master Playbacks of the main console. Also on show at ABTT were the new additions to the ETC Source Four spotlight range: 14º, 70º and 90º field angles, which are shipping early July. The 14º Source Four provides an intermediate-throw field angle to fill the gap between the 10º and 19º luminaires. Short-throw applications such as blackbox theatres and dance lighting will benefit from the 70º and 90º Source Fours. Also new, the Source Four Enhanced Definition Lens Tube (EDLT) option, available in 19º, 26º, 36º and 50º field angles, makes any Source Four outperform even itself. The EDLT enhances gobo projections in both HPL and HID-equipped luminaires, to the satisfaction of theatrical and architectural designers alike.
